Our first step in moving our house will be digging the basement on the new lot. In the meantime, my husband must take care of removing all of the baseboard and moulding from the second floor as we are going to save as much of the woodwork as possible. He will then demo the entire second floor; we need to do this so that we are able to get under all of the electrical wires in the city. Everything on the first floor will stay as is during the move; except that I will be removing the light fixtures and the glass doors on the buffet. The house will actually take a 19 mile journey to get to the lot; right now it is only about 2 miles from the lot-however the mover has to select a route that minimizes railroad tracks and underpasses. Once the house is moved over the dug hole, then the basement will be blocked.
